We sure made the most of the hot weather this weekend and played outside as much as possible. Saturday we spent at the zoo (I forgot my camera so there are no family pics from that day) then the boys ran through the sprinkler in the backyard. Today we went to visit aunt Maegan and use her pool :) the kids had a great time swimming and Owen is showing a big love of the water, he would get out of the pool for a few minutes and then jump back in the pool. Two trips to the grocery store, watching Gavin's soccer game, laundry and house cleaning and the weekend is over already.

The heat is really taking it's toll on everyone. Just look at how grumpy my normally very sweet boy is! we've been managing the hot weather with lots of water table play and popsicles. Too bad the popsicles melt in seconds in this heat!

Sesame Street Live

My friend Kristin scored second row tickets to Sesame Street Live and asked us if we wanted to go!. We were so excited and knew Owen would have a great time. The tickets were awesome and really it was like having front row because the seats were staggered and there were no seats in front of us. The characters came out on our side of the rogers center so we got to see all of them up close and most of them would high five Owen as they went by. At one point one of the characters walked off with Owen's popcorn and after that he would hide his popcorn behind his back when they came by! so cute. We weren't able to get very many pictures of Owen because we had to stay sitting in our seats for fear the characters would trip (they can't see down). The show was fantastic even though the food and souvenirs were totally overpriced ($10 for one helium elmo balloon). Owen even had his first ride on the GO train, as expected he had just as much fun on the train as at the show!

Thanks again Kristin we had a great time!

Handsome, sweet, and happy boy. Who would have thought he had the hugest meltdown in the morning over his clothes?. Yesterday was the first day of wearing shorts and Owen could not believe that I would put him in pants that were too short for his legs! funny little guy he is. Today is the first day he is wearing a tank top and he thinks something is wrong with his shirt too! Life with a pre-schooler is never boring that's for sure!

My Little Baker

One thing Owen and I love to do together is bake. I know he especially loves to eat the delicious treats but I hope someday he will love the memory of baking with mommy even more. We bake at least once every couple of weeks, it gives us something to do during daycare, the kids get to take treats home, and I get to have a treat myself while they are all napping in the afternoon.

When growing up my friend Cathy's mom used to bake us these delicious cookies called monster cookies. Recently she gifted me with the recipe and we have made the cookies for the second time this month!

Monster Cookie Recipe:

3 eggs
1/4 cup margarine
3 1/2 cups brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
1 tsp corn syrup
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla
4 1/2 cups quick oats
1 cup chocolate chips
1 cup M&M's
1 1/2 cups chunky peanut butter

Mix well. Place on greased cookie sheet bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes.

Seriously what could be better than an oatmeal, peanut butter, chocolate chip cookie with the added bonus of M&M's?

While at the park today a woman asked me if I had a girl named Noah. Um no. Might be time for a first haircut soon.

15 Months Old

Is it bad that I had to think about how old Noah was before posting this? because how could my baby be 15 months old already? it just doesn't seem possible. But then again a baby can't climb up the climbers and go down the slide on his own. It's milestone's like this that I just love but they also give me a wee bit of stress.

look I'm at the top mom!

screaming at me to back off. he wants to do it on his own.

he did it!

It seems like Noah is trying to say more words or at least he is using the words he knows more often. His favourite is dada and says it all day long. I think he tries to say dog and when he sees a dog he says "woof". He's starting to get frustrated with not talking though, so I think he will develop a few more words shortly. Recently he's let us know he isn't happy by screeching and stomping his feet it's quite annoying and hopefully that doesn't last long. I try to ignore the screeching but still acknowledge what it is he wants. Often Gavin and I mention how much trouble we are in when this one turns two, his tantrums are something else sometimes.

We haven't taken Noah for his 15 month check-up yet. I've booked an appointment but it's not for another few weeks. It's for the best because the little guy has been fighting a cold for quite some time, so his immunizations will be on hold until he gets over his cold. I will update the post when I get his 15 month stats from the Doctor. I keep weighing him and it looks like he is around 21 lbs but he's been that for a while now. I'm not sure how accurate it is.

Updated Monday June 7th: Noah had his 15 month baby wellness check-up and all is good. My sweet boy is healthy and everything is on track. He is 22lbs (approx 15th percentile), height is 33 inches (approx. 90th percentile) I don't really think the Doctor measured very accurately though the pen mark looked to be way above his head to me. His head circumference is 17.5 (5th percentile), she checked that measurement twice because she thought it was wrong. He cried a little after his shots but really was a trooper and easy to calm down. He's my tough little boy!

Originally we had plans to go to the zoo with a friend of mine, but the weather forecast this week showed rain everyday. But when we woke up this morning there was a bit of sun so last minute I decided to take the boys to the zoo anyway. The weather was a bit chilly and the chance of rain probably scared off most people as there was hardly anyone else there! it was great to spend time with just my two boys and we had a great time together today. I was amazed at how easy just having the two kids was compared to taking the daycare kids on an outing! it was very relaxing and we could take our time at each exhibit. Usually I feel rushed and want to get in as much as possible, but today we mostly hung out in the kids zoo. We had the kids zoo to ourselves early in the morning and the kids played for a long time in the sand pit without having to fight off other kids for the pails and shovels.

Mother's Day

Sunday started with what I think was supposed to be breakfast in bed, but we all slept in until 8am!. Even better. When we finally got out of bed Gavin made a great breakfast while I enjoyed some cuddle time with my boys. A few gifts, lounging in pajamas, lots of cuddles and chinese food for dinner, it was a great day.

I am so thankful for my boys. Both so special and I am blessed beyond belief.

During daycare I asked the kids the following questions and wrote out their answers. This is what owen had to say about his mom :)

A- 3 years old

Q- What is your moms favourite colour?
