Run Papa Run!
This Sunday Owen and Noah's Papa will run his second Marathon. To show how proud we are of him we've put together this little video tribute to his first Marathon (just last year). Go Papa, we'll be cheering you on!
First Ice Cream Cone
Most of Owen's toys have batteries & some toys are really annoying & loud. We often fib & tell him the batteries don't work just so he doesn't play with certain items (mean I know). Now when ever something isn't working he says " no batteries" puts the item down & moves on to something else, it's been perfect. The other day he picked up one of his toys said "no batteries. go buy some & buy some treats & ice cream too" this kid is always making me laugh.

3 months old
My littlest one is growing up so fast! at 3 months old he obviously recognizes his parents & prefers us over other people holding him. He scans the room , waves his arms in delight when he sees us, makes the sweetest baby noises & smiles. Unfortunately every time i grab the camera to try & capture a smile he gets distracted looking at the camera & the smile is soon gone!.
Just this past week Noah has rolled over on his own. I'm quite sure it has been by accident though because it usually follows him freaking out over being on his belly, he is still not a huge fan of tummy time. .
Noah has been feeding every three hours or so during the day, between 4 & 5 ounces each time. He is napping three times a day, with the longest nap being about 2 hours mid-day. Unfortunately, Owen & him nap different times now, so there is no overlap or break for me during the day. I am happy to have more one on one time with each of my boys though. Night time sleep is much better now, with Noah going to bed around 9pm, waking once or twice a night to feed, & getting up for the day around 7. It works out perfectly because Owen & I crawl out of bed at 7 as well. Occasionally Noah will sleep through the night, but at least one feeding is still typical.
We are settling in to our new family routine nicely & things are going well!

Welcome Kian
What a special mother's day it was for our family, our first nephew was born this past thursday & was able to come home from the hospital today! We are so happy that everything went well & that both mother & baby are healthy. We look forward to watching the boys grow up together. Kian is so precious & tiny, I hardly remember Noah being that small even though it was only a few months ago. Welcome to the world sweet baby Kian!

Bumbo Babies
We bought this bumbo seat yesterday for Noah. The kid LOVES to sit up & watch everything around him, either that or he just likes to keep an eye on his big brother.

Apparently all of Noah's belongings belong to Owen....

Owen doesn't seem bothered by the fact that the circulation is cut off in his thighs.

Today's Cuteness
My mom was saying yesterday that Noah gets more beautiful every time she sees him. I agree. He is so stinkin' cute I can hardly stand it! See...

I LOVE how he has no neck in this picture, it is too funny. It looks as though his shirt is swallowing his head.
He is wearing a 3-6 month outfit. I have no idea how they size baby clothes. Noah is an "average" size, & there is no way this will ever fit him at 4 months. I had originally purchased this outfit for Owen when we thought we would travel to Vietnam early. Even if we had travelled before Owen was eight months he never would have been able to wear this outfit.
.

I had just had a talk with Owen about having to "share mommy", here he is explaining that to Noah. So sweet.

It's been raining all day today, so we have been inside playing & baking cookies. Some of the cookies are missing chocolate chips. I'm not sure why...

Two month checkup
Noah had his two month checkup today, the doctor is pleased with his development & health. I was happy to report that Noah has been feeling & sleeping much better ( waking only once or twice a night), & hasn't been crying nearly as often. His weight is 11 lbs 6oz (50th percentile), height is 57.5cm (50th percentile) & his head circumference is 37.5cm (10th percentile). With such a tiny head, his body looks much bigger than it really is. Noah had his first round of immunizations today, it was difficult to see him cry in pain. I was distracted however because Owen started crying, he thought he would be getting a needle as well. Now for the next 16 months every time we go to the doctor it means another needle for the little guy. I hate that they get a needle in each leg, the second shot is always worse, & holding their little leg still when you know they are scared is tough.

Zoo
Yesterday my mom & I took the boys to the zoo, I had purchased a zoo membership recently & thought we should put it to use. I knew Owen would LOVE it, but I was worried about taking Noah, worried that he'd cry non stop all day. At least having the membership I knew that if we had to leave early it wouldn't be a big deal. We had planned to be at the zoo for when it opened at 9am, but made it there for 10am. The line up to get in was crazy, the beautiful weather brought everyone out. We had an awesome day, we didn't even get home until after 3pm. Owen loved the zoo just as I had imagined, & much to my surprise Noah slept most of the day in the stroller. We had so much fun & are looking forward to going again soon. Owen's favourite part was when the "monkey fell down & went boom" (his words). He couldn't wait to tell Gavin about the animals he saw, & for some strange reason he was very excited about the trees & seagulls. Figures. We really need to get him out more.
This orangutan came right up to the glass, we thought it was neat to see him up close.

2 Months Old
My sweet little baby isn't so little anymore, he now tips the scale at 11 pounds! I can not get over how quickly he has grown, his cheeks are chubby & he has grown a few extra chins :) every week he changes so much. Noah has been a much happier baby this week, it seems his reflux issues are less frequent since his medication has been increased to three times a day, he doesn't cry a painful cry anymore, & for that we are thankful. Noah has been more interactive, he is making eye contact & following objects the past couple of weeks. He has been making the sweetest cooing noises & giving us gummy smiles when he sees us. His favourite "play" item is his play mat. He loves music & kicks his feet & waves his arms when he hears it, he gets so excited. Last night we had the best surprise ever. Noah went to sleep at 10:30 & woke up at 5:15! almost seven hours of blissful sleep. I kept waking up when he would have normally been awake just to check on him & make sure he was alright. Usually he wakes up every 2-3 hours, waking at least three times a night to feed. We are hoping that some more restful nights are ahead.
update: Noah slept six consecutive hours last night. Woke for a feeding at 5am, and we were back in bed sleeping until 7:10. I may try to give him his last diaper change & feeding around midnight, with the hope that we can start a new routine.

Happy Easter
This morning when Owen woke up he could hardly wait to get downstairs to see if the easter bunny had come. Of course I had been talking about the easter bunny coming for days, so he had time to be excited. The first thing he said was "Presents! Treats!" it didn't take him long to rip through his easter basket and start eating the chocolate. He was much more interested in the candy than looking for eggs. He found most of the eggs on his own, but there were a few we had to "direct" him towards. The holidays have become so fun since having kids.

Not so sure about this easter thing...

The easter bunny brought Owen a water/sand table. After his afternoon nap we went outside to play with the water table.

Reflux?
Poor Noah has been miserable all week, each day his symptoms seem to get worse. He cries/screams most of the time. He constantly needs to be held upright or he spits up or vomits. He arches his neck and back in pain when he screams & he has obvious issues with gas. We had a doctor's appointment today & the doctor thinks he has reflux, which is somewhat common in newborns & usually corrects itself. According to the results of this on-line quiz, Noah has most of the symptoms of acid reflux. I did not sleep even one minute last night because he constantly needed to be held. The only thing that calms his crying is bouncing on the exercise ball. It has been a rough week, we've been basically stuck inside the house and things are taking a toll on Owen as well. The doctor prescribed drops to help with acid reflux, hopefully we will see an improvement in the coming days. Noah sees the doctor again next week, if there is no improvement we are being referred to a pediatrician. We are following all of the suggestions to help with acid reflux in newborns, hopefully something works soon.

4 weeks old
We've been a family of 4 for 4 weeks now! unbelievable really. Time is speeding by & I wish I could have time stand still for a little while. I'm really enjoying the newborn baby phase, but it makes me sad to think about the first eight months of Owen's life we missed. I know that what's important are the firsts that we experience with Owen now, but still, I can't help but think about the questions he will have in the future & the answers we just don't have.
Noah has a doctor's appointment next week, so i will have an update on his weight then. I can tell he's gaining weight though, he has more than one chin :) He has been eating 3 ounces a feeding, and wakes up every two hours or so to feed throughout the night. Hopefully he will start to sleep a little longer as we are all getting tired. Luckily, he doesn't wake up Owen in the middle of the night, I worried about that for nine months for nothing. Noah loves to be cuddled and held. I'm hoping to buy a swing for him this coming week (maybe an early Easter present), and try him in that. He likes to be rocked & walked around, he is most content on the move.
Owen has been a wonderful big brother. He has become much more loving and gentle with Noah. He doesn't seem to be acting out of jealousy the same way he was the first week or so. I am so proud of him. I feel for Owen because there is significantly less one on one time during the day with him. As much as I love when their naps overlap a little bit (it doesn't happen often), I also love that i get to spend time with just Owen. that has been the hardest adjustment for me. It was so easy to take Owen out everyday & do fun things together.,now we're lucky if everyone gets dressed in the morning. We are slowly adjusting to our new normal, soon it will feel like it's always been this chaotic :)
