Grayson was the first to wake up Christmas morning and the three of us lounged in bed while we waited for the other two sleepy heads to wake up. Noah woke up and joined us for some cuddles, and finally Owen woke up around 7:30 and came rushing in to announce it was Christmas morning :) I really don't think Noah knew what was going on. We waited while Gavin went downstairs and put the lights on the tree and got the video camera ready.
We didn't have to be at my sister's house until 3pm so we had a good part of the day to enjoy our time together, open gifts, play our new toys and have a yummy breakfast.
Our Christmas Tree
We attempted to get some cute "first Christmas" photos - and while they are cute, not all of them are happy :)
Grayson rolled from his belly to back for the first time yesterday! My mom was here to witness the milestone and we all cheered and clebrated with a very proud baby! He probably hasn't gotten the tummy time that Noah did, but I try to remember to do tummy time whenever possible. Up until this past week Grayson hasn't shown very much interest in rolling over, whenever he was placed on his belly he'd just appreciate the change of view and look around :) all of that changed yesterday! He hasn't rolled from his back to front yet, but I know it's just a matter of days until he does, he is getting so close. I've also found him squirming around his play mat and I sometimes find him in the opposite corner to what he started out - meaning I need to keep a closer eye on him :) Oh baby you are growing up way too fast!
We were sure to catch a short video of him rolling over last night. Way to go Grayson!

I'm loving that Owen is still enjoying school and comes home happy and telling me about his day. His favourite activities seem to be the house center, and riding the new bikes at recess. His least favourite time of the day is quiet time :) I'm guessing from what he tells me that quiet time is at the end of the day and I'm assuming at that point he is tired and wanting to come home. All day kindergarten is exhausting for him and he is asleep as soon as his head hits the pillow.
Every morning we play a little game where I tell him I'm going to imagine him playing and having fun, or going to the library etc. just to let him know I'll be thinking of him. he usually responds with "I'm going to imagine when you come and pick me up". Luckily when I do pick him up he only has positive things to say about the day and tells me that he had fun.
Some control behaviours have surfaced since the start of school which we expected, as controlling things seems to be his way of dealing with new transitions and stress. Luckily we know what to look for and are quick to deal with things so it hasn't gotten out of hand. He has also been dealing with stress in a much more positive way by asking us for extra cuddle time, which I think has helped a tremendous amount with his transition to school. Owen has always turned to us for comfort, but it is nice that he can express his needs - it makes it easier on everyone.
We are so pleased with his teacher and how school is going! below is a video of Owen singing some of the new songs he's learned. He starts off a little slow and distracted by being on video - but things pick up in the end :)
The countdown ticker says 27 days *gulp* I'm starting to get a bit nervous now. I've been feeling anxious about some of the things I want to get done before the baby comes but I hope that after this busy weekend I'll feel more prepared. I've packed the baby's hospital bag and have everything I need for my bag, I just need to get it all put together.
I had an O.B appointment yesterday and everything was good. I'm measuring at 34 weeks and had no weight gain but so far there hasn't been any mention of concern. Next week I start my weekly appointments and will have a different O.B while my regular one is on holidays. I'm hoping that the other O.B isn't concerned about the size of the baby and send me for non stress tests etc.
This past week I feel as though the baby is dropping - more trips to the bathroom and feeling movement really low etc. I've read that second babies usually drop later in pregnancy, so maybe I'm wrong. My hips have been aching at night and I feel like I am constantly waking up to change positions and get comfortable. I can't even count how many times I wake up during the night - I think they say this happens to prepare yourself for a newborn :) but I could really use a few more weeks of sleep before the newborn nights start!
Here is a short video of how my kids react while watching our disney vacation video :) you can see that sweet Hannah has watched the video before and shares the same love of Disney. It makes me laugh how Noah starts talking in a high pitched squeal that I'm sure only I can understand. Obviously they love the stunt car show, plus the part when he and Hannah start slow dancing like Beauty and the Beast cracks me up. Hannah and Noah can act like an old married couple bickering one minute and dancing together the next. Oh and please ignore the part that he picks his nose :) apparently when you are two you don't care what is captured on video.
They still talk about their Disney vacation every day and I must admit that even though I wasn't a big Disney fan prior to our trip, I've gotten caught up in the Disney excitement myself. I find myself searching for the latest Disney vacation package deals even though I know we won't be able to go until the baby is a little older. Having kids sure does change you in many ways!
We started Noah's Birthday party at Build-A-Bear and we had the best time! I highly recommend hosting a birthday party there, they were fantastic with the kids and everything ran smoothly! Both Noah and Owen chose the same dark brown bear so we decided to let them purchase outfits for their bear so we could tell them apart. Owen chose a soccer uniform for his bear and we helped Noah choose a birthday T-shirt for his. The kids were so well behaved and everyone had fun choosing, stuffing and washing their own teddy bear. Even the youngest of kids had a great time and participated as much as was expected :)
Here's Noah with his teddy waiting for it to be stuffed. Noah was quiet and shy for most of the time at build-a-bear, he preferred to hide behind mommy's legs and watch things from there.
Kian on his way home with his bear We were there for about an hour which was the perfect amount of time for the little ones. Afterwards, we headed back to our house for some pizza, cake and gifts.
Noah had mostly cheezies and chips for lunch, every time I looked for him he had his hand in the chip bowl, he even managed to score a juice box for lunch instead of water - apparently he was taking advantage of his special day :)
I'm not sure how the gift craziness started, all I know is that next year I'm handing the gifts to Noah one by one. Seriously in two minutes flat he and Owen had torn through every gift, it was total chaos before I even knew what was happening. In any case Noah really liked his gifts after we had the chance to check everything out once the party settled down. He even wore his new rain boots that Aunt Maegan and Uncle Bill bought from the time cake was served until he went to bed. The boy loves his boots!
Noah loves his new Rex - he can't get enough of anything Toy Story
Noah's Birthday Cake. I baked the cake thursday with the help of the daycare kids and then decorated it after my kids went to bed in the evening. I think the cake took about 3 hours to make including baking, making icing and decorating.
I think Noah enjoyed the ice cream more than his cake.
Thanks to everyone that helped us celebrate Noah's 2nd birthday! We had such a great time and I know that Noah enjoyed his day.

While Noah may look like an angel, he certainly doesn't always act like one :). In this video Noah is unhappy because I had put pants and socks on him. He ripped off his socks and refused to play outside with Owen and I. This is the tail end of his temper tantrum.
Luckily not all days are like this.

Finally some pictures from Easter weekend! The weather was great, we spent lots of time outdoors. Friday we went to a farm and had an easter egg hunt, saturday we spent time with Gavin's family, and sunday we had brunch with my family.
Uncle Jeff would push Owen on the swing and then jump out of the way pretending that Owen hit him with the swing. Owen thought it was hilarious!
Cousin Kian enjoyed some time with the water table. Later we tried to get a few pictures of our little "easter bunnies" wearing their bunny ears. Not an easy challenge I didn't even have time to grab the camera. You can see the best picture that was captured on Kian's blog.
Not such a baby anymore! Noah is acting much more like a toddler every week. It makes me a little sad, but I know how fun these times can be and I look forward to experiencing new things with Noah. He is almost 100% on milk we just have half a can of formula we are working through, other than that he eats exactly what we are eating. He can tell if you try and sneak him different food and will have a huge fit. The temper tantrums have certainly come early with this boy, starting around ten months. If he doesn't get his way he will throw himself on the floor kicking and screaming. If you ignore the behaviour he will follow you around the house doing it! I can't believe how much older that makes him. My boy climbs everything, including the outside of the staircase! such a daredevil. We really have to keep our eye on him at all times. One thing that has made him seem older lately is his ability to follow direction and respond to questions with shaking his head yes or no. He is understanding and learning so much!. He's added a few more words (yay, bye, and both my mom and I have heard him say banana or something similar at least), and two more teeth on the top.
and finally some walking video! He started taking his first steps at ten months and we are just now posting video. He is a good walker and can change direction easily. He's been walking around the house more than crawling and he gets quite upset if he falls down.
Noah's Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and Cousin came over to help celebrate his first birthday today. We missed Derek and Kaila but understand that it is a far drive and we look forward to seeing them in a few weeks!. We had lots of fun opening gifts, eating great food and of course watching Noah try his first piece of cake! He didn't make nearly the same mess as Owen did, but he enjoyed his first taste of sweets for sure. He picked the icing off of his cupcake savoring every bit of it!
Happy Birthday Noah!
Papa and Jeff picked up the balloons we ordered the other night for Noah's party. Mommy and Daddy bought Noah a Xylophone/piano, he really likes it! Checking the bags for more gifts :) Kian and Owen helped Noah open his gifts. Noah and Kian were more interested in the wrapping paper and ribbons, Owen was in search of toys. We ordered pizza and pasta for lunch. Noah loved the pasta! Yesterday I spent the morning decorating Noah's birthday cupcakes. I realized then that it was the first time in over a year that I had the house to myself without the kids. Crazy. Here are the Cow and Chicken cupcakes. Pig and Lamb cupcakes. Noah's first taste of cake! This is about as messy as he got, little clean up for mom and dad :)
Noah had been close to crawling for a while now, he would get up on his hands & knees & rock back & forth. It took time for him to learn to put his knee forward, but finally on thursday he did it!. I knew he was very close to crawling, so I really tried to get him to crawl before I went away this past weekend. I'm so happy I didn't miss him crawl the first time! Gavin captured this video of him on the move on sunday. Life will never be the same now!. Noah gets frustrated easily as you can see in the video, but my little guy is determined. I just love when he learns new things, each baby stage becomes my favourite. I'm so proud of my adorable baby!
We had the best time at my brother Derek & Kaila's wedding on saturday. Gavin's dad came with us to help with the kids afterwards & Gavin & I were able to enjoy an evening out. Owen was the ring bearer & he did the most amazing job. I was so proud of my boy, I think I cried a few tears watching him walk down the aisle. We weren't sure how he would do because he was tired & judging from the rehearsal we were just hoping he'd get down the aisle any way possible. We had a back up plan if needed, my sister would walk him down the aisle, she was also in the wedding party. In any case I worried for nothing once again, he couldn't have done a better job.
The boys were at the wedding & after pictures Gavin's dad took Noah back to the hotel. Owen stayed for the dinner & part of the reception. He was picked up by 9pm, we wanted him to enjoy the dance he had been excited about the wedding for a long time.
Here are some pics from the day. I will upload all of the pics to Flickr later, once again it is really late & I'm trying to post before bed.
Owen as the ring bearer
One of the things you had to do to get the bride & groom to kiss was to dance to any song that the dj picked. Here's Owen taking a turn on the dance floor. His favourite song ever :)
Owen has known the alphabet for months now. At least we realized he knew the alphabet when one day my mom was here for lunch & she started saying "ABCD" & he continued on with the letters. I swear this was at about 20 months, we had never tried to teach the alphabet, somehow he just picked it up. This boy amazes me with his memory, I'm not kidding when I say he's smart. The kid is freaky smart, a serious "nerd" I tell you. But at the same time the coolest kid ever, man we are lucky.
This video is from the summer, it took months to get him to say the alphabet on video. Once the camera is rolling his mind isn't on performing on demand, he prefers to act silly. But anyway, this is the best of the many attempts.
Today we gave Noah some rice cereal. He kept opening his mouth for more, grabbing the spoon & shoveling more food in his mouth. He loved it. The doctor suggested trying him on cereal when he turned 5 months so that if there were any feeding issues we could discuss things at his 6 month appointment.
This Sunday Owen and Noah's Papa will run his second Marathon. To show how proud we are of him we've put together this little video tribute to his first Marathon (just last year). Go Papa, we'll be cheering you on!
Here is a short video of Owen talking. My favourite word of his is tractor, I think he says it so cute. We wanted to capture the way he pronounces words before he loses all of the baby talk.
